The Gospel means Good news and the Gospel is simple this The Death, Burial and Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ
1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
But before we can get past the Gospel message there are a few things you must realise
The default position of our human thinking is that for the most part man is generally good but if we are pressed we discover that maybe we are not. Maybe the Bible is right
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Because we have sinned i.e. broken God's law, we must face the penalty in our common law the penalty for breaking the law might be a fine, community service or time in prison. The seriousness of sin is displayed in the fact that the punishment for sin is eternal death.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death...
James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Religious organisations are full of people who are trying to 'appease' their God by going to church, paying money to the church, getting baptised, taking communion and although these things aren't wrong in themselves if you are trying to use then to get to heaven then the Bible says it's not going to work
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Someone else paid the fine, someone else did the community service, Someone else did time in jail for me- these are things that we don't see happening in our world but it is exactly what happened when Jesus went to the cross.
Romans 5:8 ...while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Once we have pieced this altogether- the Fact that All have sinned and there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it. But God loves us and he provided a way by sacrificing his Son to die in our place thus giving us the gospel message or the Good news which is the death burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. From here all we need to do is receive him by calling upon his name.
Romans 6:23 ...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
